Scars: One of the easiest and safest ways to make scars is to use colored tissue paper and corn syrup, yep you read it right corn syrup. Choose a color of tissue paper that matches the makeup color as closely as possible. The corn syrup will be sticky this will allow it to stick to your skin, allow it to dry completely then apply makeup. If you are looking for more realistic scars. Use a combination of toilet tissue and liquid latex, layer them at least 2 layers for strength. Then work to the desired shape you want your scar to be, and apply makeup.

Warts: (warning keep away from eyes) use black, or white pepper corns. Place on the nose using corn syrup, or eyelash glue. You can even use hairs from paint brush to create hairy warts for that extra gross look. Lightly paint around the area to blend with rest of makeup or apply face powder to soften the look.

Scabs: Can be one of the easiest, but most effective parts of your costume. You will need a few things before you get started. Some toilet tissue (plys separated), liquid latex and your choice of paint and makeup. Clean the area that you want to apply, and make sure there is no hair present (it will stick to hair) apply a small thin coat of Liquid Latex. Then apply 1 ply of the toilet tissue, and another thin layer of latex. Now pull up and cut the latex as needed, this will create the effect of skin pulled away. Apply darker makeup to the center and alternate with red's and blue's around the outside of the cap. You can even apply a little fake blood to increase the effect.

Halloween props are very easy to get hold of nowadays. Some people that have time on their hands will even make their own. But for the rest of us that really do not want to spend any of our time making props, it will suffice for us to go shopping for something that we like. There are a wide variety of types and styles of props available to buy.

How much Halloween decor you use depends again on how much you wish to spend in time or money. If you wish to do up the house from front garden entrance through the main floor to the back garden, then two things you can start off with are skulls or skeletons and tombstones. Tombstones are the ultimate in setting up the freaky atmosphere as it represents the dead, or as they always become in horror movies, the undead - zombies, something scary lurking inside, or nearby waiting for the right moment to get you. Likewise of course a few skeletons also serve an eerie message. Although the flesh is gone from the bones, as in the movies, the haunted spirit of the person who that skeleton was a part of may still be possessing the skeleton and is waiting for its moment to pounce on someone.

You may like to invest in glow in the dark versions of tombstones or skeletons to make sure they really stand out. These are perfect Halloween props to set the scene for your arriving guests. And of course, no let us not forget that classic Halloween mascot that will decorate many a property at Halloween, the candlelit Jack O' Lantern pumpkin. However, only use a Jack O'Lantern if it fits in with the other Halloween props or use it exclusively if you are on a budget and simply want to concentrate on props for inside your home.

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. Probably because of the sheer amount of sugar involved. As a kid (or adult for that matter), what other holiday can you dress up funny and stuff your face full of candy and sweets and not get yelled at? And then there are all of the fun (and sometimes absolutely disgusting) things that you can serve to your friends at Halloween gatherings that you would never dare to serve on any other holiday. Halloween Masks and the History of Halloween

By far and away the most popular use of masks today, loosely but definitely within the drama arena, is for the annual ritual of Halloween, and most of all within the US.

The evening of the 31st October has long been celebrated in Church circles as the eve of All Saints' Day and is properly known as All-hallow-even. Originally, in pre-Christian Britain, this was New year's Eve. Basically it's a Vigil for the morrow's Feast commemorating all the saints and martyrs, who originally had no specific public recognition in the form of their own feast day, and was finally instituted in its current form in the 9th century. Subsequently the 2nd November was dedicated to all the other holy souls who have made it to Heaven, but not been canonised as saints - All Souls Day.

All-hallow-even or All Hallows Eve became in addition the secularised Halloween, deriving from its Celtic and Gaelic roots in Britain. This now includes a tradition permitting children a chance to "trick or treat" - to visit houses, carrying a jack-o-lantern (a pumpkin carved to resemble a diabolical face and having a lit candle within it), to demand a treat. If the treat is not forthcoming, tradition allows the children to play a trick on the householder.

Some states make it hard on kids during Halloween by banning masks. What would Halloween be without masks? What fun is it to dress up in a Halloween costume and still look like yourself?

In Alabama wearing masks in public is illegal. In Walnut, CA, the kiddies need a special permit from the sheriff to wear a mask. Spiderman masks could be dangerous in Arizona, what if your children accidentally jay walked in their excitement. According to Arizona law, wearing a red mask turns a misdemeanor into a felony.

Do you think you are allowed to dress up as witches or pilgrims in Massachusetts? The reason I ask is because witches and quakers are banned from Massachusetts.

If you want to go as a cowboy in Rhode Island, you better get a water gun, cap guns are illegal! I know, it's not the same...who ever heard of a cowboy pulling out his gun, aiming and firing a loud SPLASH. It's just not right.

Halloween or 'All Hallows Eve as it was originally called has become a Holiday for children and even adults to go out and have some spooky fun. A Pagan Holiday which dates back more than 2,000 years, it has been observed in many different ways over the centuries. In Latin American Countries, it is the eve before 'El Dia del Morte' or Day of the Dead. In the United States it has been an evening where children go out 'Trick or Treating', asking for treats to prevent tricks being played on home owners. Whereas most trick or treater's don't play tricks, some do, unfortunately.

Rather than taking the children out to trick or treat, there are many ways to have fun on Halloween at home. Halloween party are fun to plan for and fun to have. The ways in which you can decorate are endless, and today there are so many different places where you can buy almost anything that you desire for Halloween. There are the chain Party Stores and then there are the Halloween Stores which pop up in the end of August to stay open only until Halloween.

The costume possibilities are endless, ranging from Fairy Princesses, Space Men to Hobgoblins, Vampires and Ghosts. But the most fun of Halloween is the food that can be prepared. Parties need food and the imagination can run wild for this favorite of Holidays. Corn Dogs, Goblin Goulash or Chili are favorite main dishes for this Holiday. Salads can include Goblin Salad garnished with Pumpkin Seeds, 'Pumpkin' Pasta Salad. Usually at Halloween certain specialty stores will have pasta in different shapes to represent the occasion. Barring that, a favorite pasta can be tinted orange to represent pumpkins.

Now that the leaves on the trees are starting to change color and that familiar chill in the air can be felt, it's time to start thinking about that scariest of holidays; Halloween. Ghosts and goblins, ghouls and witches and all that candy! I don't think there is any time of year more exciting for kids than Halloween.

Halloween is celebrated on October 31st and "trick or treating" has become a tradition, but it's not the only one. Costume parties, haunted houses, hayrides and creepy movie festivals are all part of the weeks leading up to the big day. Here are some of my Halloween ideas, perhaps you'll use some of them this year.

Halloween decorating does not need to be expensive, but if you want you can spend a fortune. People do everything from the most simple decoration (a pumpkin) to extravagant light shows and my favourite personal haunted houses and yards. You need to find something which matches your budget and commitment. Dollar stores have a lot of inexpensive Halloween decorations, my favourite from the dollar stores are the glow in the dark spiders and skeletons. I hang the skeletons on tree branches and they light up at night giving a spooky chill to the yard.
